MY TASTING NOTES
9th july 2020
Very nice, very concentrated, quite a lot of alcohol, a lot of tannins, a lot of fruit. Dense and has a great future I think, today for the beginners it may be a little difficult because it’s so dense. It has an enormous potential. 90+ points potentially 93 points
14th july 2020:
The wine has been kept outside of the fridge and there is very little left. It has lost nothing, it’s still very dense, the color is almost black, it has a vibrant and very powerful fruit, a little bit volatile but that’s normal after being kept outside of the fridge, no cork, nothing for 6 days. However the volatility is very low, so it’s very nice, still extremely concentrated, a lot of tannins, typically St Estèphe. It needs and will give a lot of pleasure in 10-15 years maybe even 20. It is an amazing wine ! 95/100
Jancis Robinson’s Tasting note: 23d january 2020
Tasted blind. Very dark crimson. Intense Indian ink on the nose. Give me my calligraphy pen ! Rich and round. Very glamorous. So much effort has gone into every drop of this …. VGV. 18.5/20
The wine advocate’s tasting notes: Taster Lisa Perotti-Brown, 30th November 2018
The deep garnet-purple colored 2016 Meyney has a nose of cassis, tar, earth and bay leaves with redcurrants. The medium-bodied palate is a little lean and herbal, with firm, grainy tannins. 87/100
